Cleveland Guardians Spring Training Prospect Report 2/26/24
Game 3 - Cleveland Guardians 7, San Diego Padres 4
STARTER
Juan Brito (3B): 0-2 - While Brito didn’t have a good day at the plate, he put on a clinic at the hot corner, especially in the bottom of the third, when he brought the inning to a close with spectacular plays to throw out Fernando Tatis Jr. and Xander Bogaerts.
RESERVES WITH ONE OR MORE HITS
Milan Tolentino (SS): 2-2, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI - Tolentino’s two-run blast to right center in the sixth gave the Guardians their first runs since a four-tally opening frame.

Alexfri Planez (PR-RF): 1-1, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI - Planez scored on the Tolentino round-tripper as a pinch runner for Ramon Laureano and drove in one himself two innings later on a line-drive double to straightaway center to close out the Cleveland scoring for the day.
Kyle Manzardo (1B): 1-2, 1 R - The scorer of that run Planez drove in? Yep, that was Manzardo.
ALSO PLAYED
Connor Kokx (LF): 0-2
Petey Halpin (PR-CF): 0-2, 1 K
Raynel Delgado (2B): 0-1
Michael Berglund (C): 0-1
Daniel Schneemann (3B): 0-2, 1 K
Dayan Frias (PH-DH): 0-1
RELIEVERS
Tim Herrin: 1 IP, 1 H - This inning is hard to evaluate as he did manage to avoid giving up any runs, but he was also the beneficiary of Brito’s aforementioned defensive brilliance in achieving said damage avoidance.
Davis Sharpe: H (1), 0.1 IP, 1 BB, 1 K - While he walked in the first Padre run, the Depth Camp hurler also struck out Matthew Batten to limit the damage and ultimately succeed in his salvage mission.
Tanner Burns: 1 IP, 1 H. 1 BB, 1 K - Burns kept the Padres off of the scoreboard for the first time in three innings by stranding a pair of runners in his sixth-inning preseason debut.
Cade Smith: 1 IP, 1 H, 1 K - In a marked improvement from his Spring Training Opening Day performance, Smith only allowed one hit (a two-out double by Ethan Salas) and made sure nothing came of it.
Mason Hickman: 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R (earned), 1 BB, 1 K, 1 HR allowed - Hickman, on the other hand, regressed from Saturday’s outing as Cal Mitchell’s leadoff homer meant that coming out unscathed, as he did in the Opener, was not an option.
Hunter Stanley: 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R (earned), 1 K - Stanley finished his stint as the ninth-inning Depth Camp guy with a trio of consecutive outs, but a Cal Mitchell sac fly meant that he didn’t completely avoid damage from a frame-opening pair of singles from Graham Pauley and Ethan Salas.
