GUARDIANS PROSPECTS
Kyle Manzardo (AFL HR Derby): 14 HRs t-2nd - Manzardo finished tied for second in the home run derby in the Arizona Fall League on Fall Stars weekend. The Twins’ Kala'i Rosario won the tie breaker round even though he also finished with 14 along with Arizona’s Ivan Melendez. Manzardo, Chase DeLauter and Ryan Webb will compete tonight in the AFL Fall Stars game which you can watch on MLB Network and MLB.com at 8 ET.
Jose Tena (SS, Orientales): 0-4 - A tough night for Tena, who has been pretty good this offseason so far in terms of average and getting on base, though he’s done nothing in the way of power so far. The OBP component is good to see though because in Tena’s past, he carried an aggressive approach, though he improved that throughout 2023, which is a good sign.
Alexfri Planez (PR-CF, Leones): 0-1, K - Planez struck out in his only at bat after pinch running and coming on to play defense. Interesting to see him get time in center, which would help his prospect profile. Especially after missing nearly all of 2023 regular season play. I still like Planez’s power and defense, and some speed. He just needs a better approach and health. Easier said than done on the former.
Alfonso Rivas (1B, Naranjeros): 0-3, BB, K - Rivas did homer last night, so much for all that talk about no power (kidding, he hasn’t had any). But a slower night for the guy who is no longer the newest member of the Guardians 40 man roster.
