Highlights

Chase DeLauter (LF, Peoria): 2-5, RBI - DeLauter continues to collect hits in the AFL. Remember to take all AFL stats with a grain of salt, but the performance is good to see nonetheless, and DeLauter has basically just kept his momentum from the end of the regular season. The important part is really that he’s on the field. There will probably always be questions about his swing because it doesn’t look a ton like anyone else’s sometimes. But the talent and results are undeniable. When he’s on the field, he hits. And so far, health has been his only issue. Right now, it’s not. And that is what to focus on here.

Notable Performances

Christian Cairo (2B, Peoria): 1-4, RBI, E - Cairo has also not been on the field a ton and he had a good 2023 season when he was on the field, for what its worth. He did have an RBI here but also had an error and is just trying to get reps and carve out his future.

Bradley Hanner (RP, Peoria): IP, BB, 2K - Hanner had a sneaky good season on paper at Akron, pitching a lot at the end of games at times for the ‘Ducks. He has a big breaking ball, which will be interesting to see how it spins in the desert. Always a question. But if it does, that’s a good sign for it.
