REHAB
Trevor Stephan (RP, Columbus): 1 IP, 1 H, 1 E (earned), 1 BB, 1 K - Stephan gave up a run for the second time in as many non-complex outings in his season-opening rehab stint, but made it the full frame this time. His control and velocity are still not quite there, he was throwing 91-93.
HIGHLIGHTS
Vince Velasquez (SP, Columbus): W (4-2), 6, 7 H, 1 R (earned), 2 BB, 1 WP, 5 K - After flirting with a quality start is two of his three prior starts this month, but coming up an out short, Velasquez got through six full frames on Friday for his second QS of the season. While he’s a longshot for a chance to serve as Big Club pitching depth, his is a name to keep in the back of your mind.
Yorman Gomez (SP, Lake County): ND, 5 IP, 4 H, 1 R (earned), 1 HB, 9 K, 1 HR allowed - Gomez has been both efficient and effective in recent outings, going five or more innings for the third straight start while making it back-to back games with one or less earned runs allowed.
Johan Rodriguez (2B, ACL): 2-4, 2B, HR, 3 RBI - The 17 year old shortstop is having a solid month of June so far after a rough start.
Robert Arias (CF, ACL): 2-4, BB, 2 SB - Three times on base and two steals is a pretty solid day for Arias, despite no extra base hits. But the two steals got him into scoring position. He does have a solid frame and it would be nice to see him develop more power.
Juneiker Cacares (DH, ACL): 4-5, RBI, SB, CS - Caceres continues to have a solid season in the ACL at age 17. No power in this one and he was throwing out one of two times trying to seal but hard to complain about this kind of performance.
Heins Brito (2B, DSL Goryl): 3-4, 2B, HR - This homer was the 17 year old’s first of his career. Brito is a solid framed teenager and switch hitter that plays up the middle.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
C.J. Kayfus (RF, Columbus): 2-4, 1 RBI, 1 K - Kayfus continues to Kayfus, with last night being his sixth multi-base game in his last eight.
Brayan Rocchio (2B, Columbus): 2-3, 1 R, 1 2 B, 1 BB, 1 SB - Rocchio continued to make his case for a return trip up I-71 North with the best offensive performance of a sold-out contest at the Corner of Neil and Nationwide.
Micah Pries (1B, Columbus): 1-2, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 SB - Pries’ two-run blast to right in the fifth (103.1 MPH, 381 feet) gave the Clip Show the lead for good and proved to be the difference in the result.
Milan Tolentino (3B, Columbus): 1-2, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K - Tolentino made it black-to-back jacks with a 395-foot solo shot to center (101.1 MPH), his tenth round-tripper of the 2025 campaign.
Guy Lipscomb (LF-RF, Akron): 1-4, 2 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K - Lipscomb's fourth-inning solo shot was the highlight of a rough night for the RubberDucks.
Christian Knapczyk (2B, Lake County): 2-3, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 K - Knapczyk’s second two-hit game of the week in South Bend extended his multi-base streak to five games.
Maick Collado (3B, Lake County): 2-5, 1 R, 1 RBI, 3 K, 1 E - The last 48 hours have been an impressive stretch for Collado, who has gone a combined 5-for-9 with two runs and an RBI in his last two games.
Braylon Doughty (SP, Lynchburg): 3.2IP, 4H, ER, 2BB, 2K - Doughty had a solid outing but was inefficient with his pitches, having a hard time locating his slider for strikes at times.
Garrett Howe (DH, Lynchburg): 2-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 2 SB - Howe now has multiple bases in four of his last five games after this multi-hit effort.
Logun Clark (C, Lynchburg): 2-4, 1 R,1 K, 1 CS - The Hillcats’ other multi-hit effort was Clark's first since back-to-back two-hit games on May 9 and 10.
Triston McKenzie (RP, ACL): IP, 2K - This was the first real good outing McKenzie has had in the ACL. Perhaps coming out of the bullpen might be the only thing left for him at this point.
Pedro Dalmargo (1B, ACL): 3-5, 2B - Dalmargo, a 19 year old catcher by trade, had a nice day at first base.
Jose Riera (DH, DSL Mendoza): 2-3, BB - The 17 year old middle infielder is having one of the best offensive statistical seasons in the DSL for Guardians prospects.
