Highlights:
Will Brennan (CF, Columbus): 3-for-4, R, HR, RBI, BB - The left-handed swinging Brennan reached base four times and had three batted balls tracked above 100 mph on statcast, highlighted by a solo homerun in the third (381 feet). He is a combined 7-for-11 over his last three games with two three-hit performances and reached base in two out of every three plate appearances. As the temperature rises, so has Brennan’s batting average as he is up to .320 on the season, a 34-point increase in the series against St. Paul.
Johnathan Rodriguez (DH, Columbus): 4-for-5, 2B, CS - Rodriguez extended his on-base streak to 11 games with a four-hit performance to close the series against the Twins affiliate. This is his second four-hit game of this hot spell, but first multi-hit game of the series. Rodriguez’s double was the hardest-hit ball of the game at nearly 110 mph. His .360 batting average is the highest it has been all season as he looks to receive another shot with the big-league club.
Alfonsin Rosario (RF, Lake County): 3-for-5, SB - It was a three-hit day for Rosario in the series finale in Lansing - his second three-hit game of the season. Rosario also swiped his fifth base of 2025 in the loss. He got on base effectively, but the next three in the Captains’ order behind him were a combined 0-for-14 to keep the shutout for the Lugnuts intact.
Dylan DeLucia (SP, Lake County): 4.0 IP, H, 0 R, BB, 6 Ks, HBP - DeLucia limited baserunners in his four innings of work, but a high pitch count caused him to be relieved early. DeLucia retired the first six batters he faced and the lone hit he allowed came with one out in the fourth. He was able to leave a runner stranded in scoring position with the help of a key strikeout.
Garrett Howe (3B, Lynchburg - G1): 3-for-3, R, HR, RBI, SB - Howe was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate and scored the Hillcats’ lone run of game one with a solo homerun. It is his first professional homerun in 36 games played at the Single-A level. He added his 11th stolen base of the season in the loss as well.
Notable Performances:
Kody Huff (C, Columbus): 2-for-4, R, 2B, BB - A quality day for the Columbus backstop with a pair of hits and he reached base a third time via balls. Huff was on base in the second for a Petey Halpin RBI single.
Parker Messick (SP, Columbus): 5.1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 3 BBs, 9 Ks - Nine strikeouts for Messick is the most of his Triple-A career. His fastball got 11 swings and misses out of the 15 in total and topped out at 95 mph.
Cooper Ingle (C, Akron): 1-for-3, 2B, BB - Ingle had one of the two extra-base hits for the RubberDucks with a double in the top of the first. He reached base one additional time with a walk - his team-high 16th of 2025.
Austin Peterson (SP, Akron): 5.2 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 0 BBs, 4 Ks - Altoona touched Peterson up a little bit, and somehow this is one of if not the weakest performance of the year for the 25-year-old right-hander with his 1.35 ERA and 0.68 WHIP. He threw 52 strikes in his 77 pitches and still allowed less than one hit per inning.
Christian Knapczyk (2B, Lake County): 2-for-4, BB - Make it four multi-hit games out of the last five for the lead-off man Knapczyk as he continues to increase his on-base percentage. His .955 OPS leads Lake County.
Robert Wegielnik (RP, Lake County): 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BBs, 2 Ks - The 23-year-old has struggled so far this season but maybe a turn of the calendar to the month of May is just what Wegielnik needed as he sat down all six batters he faced in his relief appearance on Sunday.
Steven Perez (RP, Lake County): 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BBs, 0 Ks - This is Perez’s fourth straight scoreless appearance and his streak is up to 7.1 consecutive innings without a run allowed. That is his only run allowed in the eight appearances the southpaw has made in 2025.
Tommy Hawke (2B, Lynchburg - G2): 1-for-3, BB, SB - 26 games played and 32 stolen bases for Hawke. An unbelievable stat to look at as the 22-year-old has eight swipes in the month of May alone (four games).
Sean Matson (RP, Lynchburg - G2): 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BBs, 2 Ks - Matson helped bring an end to a five-run top of the fourth and tossed a clean fifth for the Hillcats in a game two loss. He now has 20 K’s in 14.2 innings this year.
