OCTOBER 29
Aaron Bracho (1B, La Guaira): 1-4, 1 R, 1 3B, 1 RBI - Bracho’s first full game of the Venezuelan campaign was highlighted by a second-inning lead off triple in his first official at-bat of the Caribbean season and his first RBI of the winter on a groundout for the evening’s penultimate out.
Alexfri Planez (LF, Aragua): 0-3, 1 K - Planez’s Venezuelan slash line is down to .143/.280/.286 after failing to reach base for the second straight game. While the sample size remains small (25 plate appearances), the numbers other than the OBP are far enough below the .219/.254/.383 that he posted in Double-A Akron this summer that it raises the question of whether his struggles are not merely a slump but possibly the result of the long season taking its toll or maybe just the higher level of play in the LVBP.
OCTOBER 30
Chase DeLauter (DH, Surprise): 2-for-3, R, 2 2Bs, RBI, 2 BBs - It was a huge day at the plate for DeLauter with a pair of extra-base hits and he reached base four times in total. His double in the bottom of the seventh was 100mph off the bat and drove in a run, sparking a five-run comeback that fell just short in the late innings. His first double was 90 off the bat, but had a very high launch angle and was one of those balls that fell in the Bermuda triangle in left. That was off Phillies top (rehabbing) pitching prospect Andrew Painter.
Milan Tolentino (SS, Surprise): 0-for-5 - Despite being second on the team in walks (12), Tolentino was unable to reach base in five plate appearances.
Aaron Bracho (1B, La Guaira): 1-for-4, PO, CS - Bracho singled early in the win, but ended up getting picked off and caught stealing on the basepaths to spoil the lone hit for the Guardians prospect.
Lorenzo Cedrola (CF, Aragua): 1-for-2, R - Cedrola was lifted as a defensive replacement in center field in the bottom of the fourth inning, but prior to leaving he would single to lead-off the game and came around to score.
