REHAB
Trevor Stephan (RP, Columbus): 0.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R (earned), 2 BB - Stephen understandably struggled in his first non-complex action of the year.
Erik Sabrowski (RP, Columbus): 1 IP, 3 H, 2 R (both earned), 1 K, 1 HR allowed - Sabrowski also had a rough go of things last night. His regression in his third Triple-A outing of his rehab stint can be explained partially, however, by this being his first rehab effort of the season in the tight confines of Huntington Park.
Juan Brito (starting DH, ACL - Monday): 0-5, 1 K - This was effectively a full game, albeit at DH, for Brito, who was pinch-run for when he was scheduled to be the extra runner to start the tenth.
Juan Brito (2B, ACL - Tuesday): 1-2, BB, E - Brito is still struggling in his rehab but he played most of Tuesday’s game at 2B, so that’s a good sign for his comeback.
Carlos Gutierrez (starting LF, ACL - Monday): 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K - Gutierrez saw significant playing time as well, playing seven innings in left field.
Carlos Gutierrez (DH, ACL - Tuesday): 0-4, 3K -
HIGHLIGHTS
Chase DeLauter (LF, Columbus): 2-4, 1 RBI, 2 Outfield Assists - While DeLauter had the Clippers’ best offensive performance of the evening - extending his team-leading on-base streak to 17 games in the process, what really stood out was his 91 MPH missile to the plate to get Indianapolis 2B Nick Yorke out to end the top of the third. He also had two outfield assists in the game.
Dylan DeLucia (SP, Akron): W (2-0), 5 IP, 2 BB, 8 K - DeLicia has taken to Double-A like a duck to water, which is apropos since he is a Duck (specifically a Rubber one). Through his first two starts as a Mallard of Main Street (11 combined innings), Dylan has allowed only four baserunners (two hits last Wednesday and last nights two walks) while striking out 13. Speaking of Main Street, this week’s rotation seems to suggest next Saturday as a preliminary date for his Canal Park debut.
Ralphy Velazquez (LF, Lake County): 2-4, 2 R, 1 3B, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 SF, 1 K - After only managing one single in 16 official at-bats against the Dayton Dragons (Reds) last week at the Corner of SOM Center and Vine, Velazquez broke out in a big way as one of two Captains to complete the harder half of the cycle in last night's series opener in South Bend.
Wuilfredo Antunez (DH, Lake County): 2-5, 3 R, 1 3B, 1 HR, 2 RBI - Antunuez, on the other hand, remained hot with his triple and homer extending his extra-base hit streak to four games including two straight with a round-tripper.
Jose Riera (2B, DSL Mendoza): 2-3, 2B, HR, 2 RBI, BB - A nice game from the 17 year old who has more walks than strikeouts and a couple of extra base hits here.
Rodny Rosario (DH, DSL Goryl): 3-5, 2B, HR, 5 RBI - The 17 year old shortstop was the DH and took that to heart in this one with some big hits and is having a solid first year in the DSL.
Randy Martinez (RF, DSL Goryl): 3-5, 2 2B, 3B - A second year second baseman, Martinez played outfield in this one and had three extra base hits. He’s played all over in hit two years in the DSL so far.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Petey Halpin (CF, Columbus): 2-5, 1 R, 2 K - Halpin impressed from the leadoff spot with the Clip Show’s other two-hit Tuesday.
C.J. Kayfus (1B, Columbus): 1-4, 1 2B - Kayfus’ 15th double of the season (including four as a RubberDuck) was the Clips’ lone extra-base hit of Tuesday’s Dime-A-Dod homestand opener.
Matt Krook (RP, Columbus): 1 IP, 1 BB, 1 K - Krook continues to dominate in Triple-A, allowing only one earned run on two hits, four walks, and a hit batter while striking out eleven in 7.1 innings since signing with the Guards org on May 29.
Angel Genao (SS, Akron): 1-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB - Genao provided the offensive highlight of the rain-delayed contest, doubling in the top of the fifth, driving in the game’s only run in the form of…
Alex Mooney (2B, Akron): 2-4, 1 R, 1 K, 2 SB - Besides scoring the only run of the game, Mooney had the best offensive performance of anyone on either team, with his pair each of hits and stolen bases outpacing the entire Sea Dog lineup combined (who got one and zero, respectively).
Jack Leftwich (RP, Akron): H (1), 1 IP, perfect, 3 K - Leftwich struck out the side in order in the sixth to remain unscored upon in three innings since coming off the IL last Thursday.
Christian Knapczyk (2B, Lake County): 2-6, 1 R, 2 RBI, 2 K - Knapczyk made it three straight games with two total bases (doubled in both of the weekend consists against Dayton) with an effort that would’ve been a highlight on most nights.
Juan Benjamin (3B, Lake County): 1-4, 1 R, 1 3B, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 SB - Benjamin’s first triple of the 2025 season (and tenth of his pro career) was part of a rare three-triple night for the Eastlake Nine.
Bennett Thompson (C, Lynchburg): 1-3, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 PB - Of the four Hillcats to reach twice last night, Thompson was the only one to get a hit (2B Garrett Howe and 3B Yaikel Mijares - the bottom two hitters in the order - each walked twice while LF Jose Pirela, who abetted seventh, was plunked twice).
Luis De La Cruz (1B, ACL - Monday): 2-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K - De La Cruz led the way for the A-Guards on Monday with a double and RBI single.
Reiner Herrera (C, ACL - Monday): 1-2, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 1 PB - Herrera’s second stateside homer tied the game in the seventh and ultimately forced an extra frame.
Triston McKenzie (SP, ACL): 2IP, 3H, 4ER, 4BB, K - This is a ROUGH line for McKenzie and his last two outings have been brutal. Not what you want to see from someone like McKenzie, who is facing 18-21 year olds in Arizona.
Joey Oakie (RP, ACL): 1.2IP, H, 4R (3ER), 3BB, K - Things could be going better for Oakie, a big pick a year ago who is having a hard time in his first pro season in the complex leagues overall.
Dauri Fernandez (3B, ACL): 1-2, HR, RBI, BB - Fernandez cracked his third homer of the ACL campaign and as far as Arizona stats go, he’s having a good year.
