Cleveland Guardians 2023 prospect scouting report: #19 OF Jaison Chourio
How far will the talented younger brother of wunderkind prospect Jackson Chourio rise in 2023?
Build, background
Best known for being the little brother of Brewers ultra talented shortstop Jackson Chourio. Jaison Chourio signed January 15th, 2022 as an International free agent for $1.2 million. The talented center fielder displays a lean athletic 6'1, 165 lbs with continued growth potential as the teenager matures and fills out his frame physically. Please note: multiple scouting reports and video were utilized to compile this report.

What Chourio does well
Chourio unlike his brother is a contact first over power profile. He takes plenty of walks displaying unusual plate discipline for such a young player. While DSL stats are hardly a gauge of talent he produced anticipated results with a high batting average and nearly double walks to strikeouts ratio. The young outfielder is a reputable defender with his glove, possesses above-average speed, and a strong right field capable throwing arm.

Where Chourio needs to improveÂ
Continuing to add experience while implementing professional routines. Showing growth year over year as he begins to ascend the minors. Adapting to older more advanced competition as he heads stateside for the first time. Adding strength and by virtue, his power should increase naturally.Â

Intangibles
Offensively his approach fits with what Cleveland does well- take walks and put the bat on the ball. Defensively he possesses a high floor as mentioned above. He is a high IQ player, with a strong work ethic, and bloodlines. Tapping his brother's brain could be beneficial as he ascends the minors. Physically there's room for continued growth and added strength to his frame. It is easy to envision him filling out his frame with an additional 20–30 pounds of muscle with time. He's athletic, smart, and fast and should stick in center. If he slows with maturation he has plenty of arm strength to carry him in right field.Â

Future
Chourio is a talented player in his own right but does not have the same player profile (top 100 prospect) as his brother. That said, he is talented in his own right and could become a dynamic multi-tool center fielder. The developmental path ahead of him is long, but the bloodlines, talent, tools, and work ethic are there to believe he could become an impact prospect and potentially become the future for Cleveland in center field.
